Lupita Nyong'o Is PEOPLE's Most Beautiful 2014

Lupita Nyong'o has added yet another crown to her successful awards season that ended with her bagging an Oscar for best supporting Actress in the movie 12 Years a Slave.  After landing a contract with Lancôme Paris to be its brand ambassador, Lupita was recently named PEOPLE'S Magazine's most beautiful Woman.

"It was exciting and just a major, major compliment," the 31-year-old says of gracing this year's cover. And especially, "I was happy for all the girls who would see me on [it] and feel a little more seen."

Born in Mexico and raised in Kenya, Nyong'o first equated beauty with what she saw on television: "Light skin and long, flowing, straight hair," she says. "Subconsciously you start to appreciate those things more than what you possess." 

Her mother, Dorothy, who is the managing director and head of PR for the Africa Cancer Foundation, "always said I was beautiful," Nyong'o adds. "And I finally believed her at some point."

Truly an inspiration to many that hard work, humbleness and a dream can make the world to know who you are and reward you for your efforts. You go girl! You make us and the world proud of your achievements!

On quitting smoking: “People told me that cigarettes are harder to quit than alcohol. I didn’t believe it, but you know what? It is harder. I’m not someone who wants to light up inside people’s homes, including my own, and I don’t want to stand outside on street corners anymore. It’s still a struggle. In fact, just talking about it makes me crave one, so let’s stop, please! But I am really trying.”

On foods she eats and stays away from: “I don’t eat fish, pork or tuna or any other fish that eats another fish because of mercury. I like spicy foods. I put chili spice on everything!”

On Hillary Clinton being the next president of the US: “Let me tell you why Hillary’s going to win. Everywhere you go in this country, you have red and blue. You got the Democrats; you got the Republicans. You got the Bloods; you got the Crips. You know what else is red and blue? Blood. Blood is blue in your body until air hits it, and then it turns red. On whether he cares much about Hollywood accolades: ‘I don’t. But I would never say, “I don’t give a sh*t about the Oscars,” because it’s not the whole truth. It’s not about the shiny, naked golden man, or the pat on the back, it’s about being able to stand on a world stage for two minutes in front of a billion people and say something that is meaningful, important to you.’

On losing a lot of weight for Dallas Buyers Club: ‘I have very strong self-control. There is something very seductive about it,’ he admits when we discuss his crash, three-stone weight loss for Rayon, during which the slight actor virtually stopped eating. (He used to go to the supermarket just to stare at the food.) ‘I got to understand the mentality of an eating disorder. There are the highs of losing more weight; there’s a rush of endorphins associated with that control. When you have made a severe commitment to losing weight, there is a lot of shame and guilt around eating again. I really suffered that, it’s not a nice feeling...’ But Leto found solace in self-exploration. ‘The process can be very monk-like — there is a history of people who have fasted to achieve enlightenment. There is something in that, getting to know who you are. It changed me.’

On December 6, 2011, Stewart was named number one on Forbes magazine's list of "Hollywood's Best Actors for the Buck." On January 13, 2012, she became the face of a new unnamed Balenciaga perfume and on June 29, it was announced that the perfume will be entitled "Florabotanica". On June 1, 2012, Stewart starred as Snow White in the film Snow White and the Huntsman. Stewart appears as Mary Lou in On the Road, the film adaption of Jack Kerouac's cult classic novel of the same name.

According to Forbes, Stewart was the highest paid actress in 2012 with total earnings of $34.5 million. She earned $12.5 million each for last two installments in the Twilight series, including royalties. She ranked #7 on AskMen's list of Top 99 Women for 2013.

On 11 December 2013, it was announced that Stewart has became the new face of Chanel, for a Western-inspired fashion collection. The campaign has been shot by Karl Lagerfeld and will be released in May 2014. In 2014 Balenciaga released their new fragrance Rosabotanica, with Stewart remain the face of the brand. Britain's The Sunday Times "Rich List" put him on its "list of young millionaires" in the UK, worth £13 million. Time magazine named him as one of 2010's 100 Most Influential People in The World. In June 2010, Pattinson was named by Forbes magazine the 50th most powerful celebrity in the world with earnings $17 million. She confesees that Even she gets body conscious from time to time admitting to the mag that she "feared being so naked" for the photo op. Despite her insecurities, the star stunned for the racy cover, where she can be seen in a sultry pose as she dons the painted-on jewels.

Photographed in sunny Los Angeles at Milk Studios, Lovato spoke to features editor Elio Iannacci on the highs and lows of her career as well as her views on songwriting, relationships and her return as a judge on X-Factor this fall. On dealing with double standards:
“Guys can be scandalous and not get any crap for it. In my song [“Something We’re Not”], I’m saying, ‘girls, have your fun—don’t let anyone let you feel bad about your actions. Ever.’
How moving to L.A. helped her transform:
“L.A. has opened my eyes. I learned that ignorance stood in the way of my insight. I wasn’t really being honest with the way I used to live.  I was pretending to be a role model during the day and turning into a wild child at night.”

According to her, her fans are are her greatest supporters saying “They are engaged in making a difference. We have collected tons of donations that will go towards creating jobs and helping people get jobs. That’s something I want to celebrate. For Chime for Change we raised awareness and over $4 million in one day for equal rights for girls everywhere. So many people at that concert were young. They are more socially responsible than they get credit for.”
