Madonna For Harper’s Bazaar US Magazine February 2017 Photographed by Luigi & Iango
Madonna lands Harper’s Bazaar Us Magazine’s 150th anniversary
special. On the Cover Madonna wears a Gucci gown; Madonna's own snake bracelet;
Bulgari bracelet; Tiffany & Co. bracelet; Fallon ring; Loree Rodkin ring
(on pinky finger); Lynn Ban ring (on index finger). She is photographed by
Luigi & Iango. She speaks to Roxane
Gay about issues ranging from politics to what motivates her. Here is an excert
from the Interview with the pop icon
Roxane Gay: As an artist, whether it's in film or music or
writing, do you think your work is political?
Madonna: Completely.
Roxane Gay: How so?
Madonna: Because I'm political. I believe in freedom of
expression, I don't believe in censorship. I believe in equal rights for all
people. And I believe women should own their sexuality and sexual expression. I
don't believe there's a certain age where you can't say and feel and be who you
want to be. All you have to do is look at my career—from my Sex book to the
songs I've written, kissing a black saint in my "Like a Prayer"
video, the themes I explored on my Erotica album. As I get older and I get
better at writing and expressing myself, then you get into my American Life
era, and I start talking about politics and government and how fucked our
country's politics are, and the illusion of fame and Hollywood and the
beautiful people.

Patrick Dempsey Covers Manhattan Magazine October 2014
On his first audition for ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ with creator
Shonda Rhimes: “At first I thought [Shonda] hated me, but she was calculating
in her head where to put me and what I’d be right for…they liked me, but they
wanted me to do a chemistry read with [lead actress Ellen Pompeo]. I had an
immediate connection with her because she has a Boston accent, and I’m from
Maine, so that disarmed me.”
On his love of racing and his wife Jillian sharing his
passion: “I think she kind of wishes she hadn’t allowed me to start racing
because it’s become a full-time business and occupation outside of, and on top
of, everything else I’m doing. She got the new Porsche 911 Targa as an
anniversary present and now says, ‘I completely understand why you love cars
and the rush of it!’ If you’re in a performance car there’s definitely a
sensation that you get that is indescribable.”

Brad Pitt for Details Magazine November 2014
On his love for the outdoors: "I will always be most
comfortable in the outdoors. I grew up in the Ozarks—something resembling Mark
Twain country. The woods, rivers, bluffs, lakes, and caves have all left an
indelible mark on me. And I'm quite reverential when it comes to a tree. On my
forearm, I had tattooed '94.9m (311.4ft)'—the height of the largest
sequoia."
On his passion for bikes and motorcycles: "I first rode
at age 7 on my cousin's Honda Mini Trail 50. I tried to jump it and ran it into
my grandmother's car. He was severely pissed off. My first bike was a Kawi 150
enduro. I won it at age 12 in a contest for selling the most pecan log rolls
door to door after school. I crashed it four weeks later."
“I try to carve out time for a solo ride in every country I
travel to, from the Highlands of Scotland to the Atlas Mountains of Morocco to
the belly of India. I haven’t even come close to fulfilling my list—yet. . . .
But, in the traffic of L.A. with a helmet on, I’m just another asshole on the
road.”
Kristen Stewart Graces Elle Magazine's September 2014
Kristen Stewart gets locked up in Chanel for the cover of
Elle magazine’s September 2014 fashion issue, on newsstands nationwide August
19.
On her growing career: “Never at any point have I sat down
and plotted how I should proceed from here on. As soon as you start thinking
about your career as a trajectory—like, as if you’re going to miss out on some
wave or momentum—then you’re never doing anything for yourself anyway. Then
you’re truly, actually, specifically working for the public. You’re turning
yourself into a bag of chips.”

Lupita Nyong'o on Elle France Magazine August 2014.
The lovely Lupita Nyong'o lands herself yet another magazine cover, and this time, she's facing the fashion world sunny side up.
The Oscar-winner wows in a canary yellow, asymmetric
Giambattista Valli Haute Couture gown on the cover of Elle France's summer
issue. The spread deems the 31-year-old '12 Years a Slave' actress a
"superstar," and inside, she opens up about her remarkable year.
Beyond her breakthrough success, Lupita's also graced
Vogue's July cover, and has been named the latest face of Lancome.
Next up, the Yale alum will appear in "Star Wars:
Episode VII," and lend her vocal talents to "The Jungle Book"
opposite Scarlett Johansson and Idris Elba.

Lupita Nyong'o and Her First Cover of Vogue
In little more than a
year, Lupita Nyong’o has made the leap from serious student to Oscar-winning
actress and head-turning fashion star. Hamish Bowles catches up with
Hollywood’s newest golden girl.
Marrakech in May is unseasonably tagine-hot. Hapless
tourists are being felled by sunstroke merely from sauntering across the city’s
pulsing medina square, which is all but abandoned by the native food and
trinket traders, snake-charmers, and storytellers who will throng it in the
desert cool of evening.
But in the oasis sanctuary of the Ksar Char-Bagh, all is
balmy dolce far niente. A luxe spa hostelry built in imitation of a castle-like
fort in the middle of the Palmeraie, it has crenellated towers that hide a
private dipping pool and afford views down to a central marbled courtyard
modeled on Granada’s Moorish Alhambra, and across the palm groves to the
distant Atlas Mountains. Guests are lounging poolside in the shade of an allée
of date palms, seemingly oblivious of the Academy Award–winning deity in their
midst, who is the focus of the Vogue cover shoot in full fluster around them.
Lupita Nyong'o Is PEOPLE's Most Beautiful 2014
Lupita Nyong'o has added yet another crown to her successful
awards season that ended with her bagging an Oscar for best supporting Actress
in the movie 12 Years a Slave. After
landing a contract with Lancôme Paris to be its brand ambassador, Lupita was
recently named PEOPLE'S Magazine's most beautiful Woman.
"It was exciting and just a major, major
compliment," the 31-year-old says of gracing this year's cover. And
especially, "I was happy for all the girls who would see me on [it] and
feel a little more seen."
Born in Mexico and raised in Kenya, Nyong'o first equated
beauty with what she saw on television: "Light skin and long, flowing,
straight hair," she says. "Subconsciously you start to appreciate
those things more than what you possess."
Her mother, Dorothy, who is the
managing director and head of PR for the Africa Cancer Foundation, "always
said I was beautiful," Nyong'o adds. "And I finally believed her at
some point."
Truly an inspiration to many that hard work, humbleness and
a dream can make the world to know who you are and reward you for your efforts.
You go girl! You make us and the world proud of your achievements!

Naomi Campbell for Shape Magazine April 2014
Naomi Campbell shows off her age-defying figure in a
swimsuit on the cover of Shape magazine’s April 2014 issue.
On covering magazines: “I've been on almost every magazine
in existence, but this is my first time posing for Shape, and I’m thrilled. Of
course, I wish I had done it when I was younger, but it’s an honor to be here
at any age ”Every cover I got, I fought for. No’s don’t deter me—they make me
more determined.”
On quitting smoking: “People told me that cigarettes are
harder to quit than alcohol. I didn’t believe it, but you know what? It is
harder. I’m not someone who wants to light up inside people’s homes, including
my own, and I don’t want to stand outside on street corners anymore. It’s still
a struggle. In fact, just talking about it makes me crave one, so let’s stop, please!
But I am really trying.”
On foods she eats and stays away from: “I don’t eat fish,
pork or tuna or any other fish that eats another fish because of mercury. I
like spicy foods. I put chili spice on everything!”

Because you know what? No matter how staunch of a supporter you are of no-abortion, whatever you are: you’re a woman, and there’s no way in the world you’re going to vote for somebody that’s going to try to tell you what to do with your body. Hillary’s gonna win. Listen, I’m reaching out to her right now. She’s gonna win.”

Jared Leto for Evening Standard Deluxe March 2014
Jared Leto photographed by Terry Richardson
On whether he cares
much about Hollywood accolades: ‘I don’t. But I would never say, “I don’t
give a sh*t about the Oscars,” because it’s not the whole truth. It’s not about
the shiny, naked golden man, or the pat on the back, it’s about being able to
stand on a world stage for two minutes in front of a billion people and say
something that is meaningful, important to you.’
On losing a lot of
weight for Dallas Buyers Club: ‘I have very strong self-control. There is
something very seductive about it,’ he admits when we discuss his crash,
three-stone weight loss for Rayon, during which the slight actor virtually
stopped eating. (He used to go to the supermarket just to stare at the food.)
‘I got to understand the mentality of an eating disorder. There are the highs
of losing more weight; there’s a rush of endorphins associated with that
control. When you have made a severe commitment to losing weight, there is a
lot of shame and guilt around eating again. I really suffered that, it’s not a
nice feeling...’ But Leto found solace in self-exploration. ‘The process can be
very monk-like — there is a history of people who have fasted to achieve
enlightenment. There is something in that, getting to know who you are. It
changed me.’

Katy Perry for GQ US February 2014
It’s been six years since Katy Perry announced herself with
“I Kissed a Girl,” which became her first hit single (and somehow made
Chapstick sexy). Ever since, her immense popularity has stemmed largely from
her ability to straddle that divide between Madonna (one of her idols) and girl
next door. Far more wholesome than that twisted genius Lady Gaga, Perry still
exudes vastly more heat and sensuality than, say, Taylor Swift. Part of that’s
due to Perry’s top-heavy physicality, but her sly lyrics and full-throated
delivery deserve credit, too.
In her music, all of which she co-writes, she handily mixes
innocence with lust. She wants to be your homecoming queen and made her mark
singing about reading Seventeen and learning how to shave her legs. But she
also yearns to melt your Popsicle and see your peacock, cock, cock. When you
add in God—she was raised Pentecostal and once recorded on a Christian
label—things get even more complicated.
