Kenya’s Fashion Design House "KikoRomeo" Goes To Milan

After completing fashion design studies in Rome, followed by years working as a designer in Barcelona, Scottish born Ann McCreath took a three-month break doing aid work in Kenya. Finding it fascinating, she stayed on for 3 years, before deciding to go back to her profession and do trade instead of aid.

So in 1996 With a desire to help create jobs in rural areas and make unique, high quality products for retail Ann launched her own fashion house under the name “KikoRomeo”, which means “Adam’s apple” in Kiswahili.. Hoping Kenyans would take pride in African-inspired contemporary fashion, and promote their economy through buying locally made fashion, she set about making ethically sound products with inputs from community artisans and women’s groups, which she retailed through her own shop. Since then KikoRomeo has continued to offer ready-made garments, cut to international fashion trends, using African made fabrics, often with handcrafted details.

Lupita Nyong'o wins Oscar for supporting actress

LOS ANGELES (AP) — After a whirlwind of awards season attention for Lupita Nyong'o ended with a best supporting actress award at Sunday's Oscars, the "12 Years a Slave" star honored the character that put her on stage.
"Thank you to the academy for this incredible recognition. It doesn't escape me for one moment that so much joy in my life is due to so much pain in someone else's," she said, referring to Patsey, the tortured slave she played in director Steve McQueen's wrenching 19th-century drama.
She credited McQueen for bringing attention to a dark chapter in American history and the victims of slavery.
"I'm certain the dead are standing about you and watching," she said, a sentiment she expanded on backstage.
"I think he's really honored a people that really have been unsung for a really long time in doing this film," she said.

Of New Year resolutions For Fashion Geek

I know, it’s the second month of 2014 and resolutions are usually made in the beginning of the year. I never really make resolutions or write them down anyway just thoughts I tick off in my head as I go along. But I’ve decided I need to make this one, I haven’t really been blogging that much due to some unrelated reasons and other stresses of life. So this time I think I need to put it down on paper as a goal I have for this New Year 2014. Written down resolutions have more meaning than just declaring something and let it fall as it may. And the best part is that now that I will put it down I will have no more excuses as to why I have not achieved it come December 31st 2014. Now that I will share it with the whole world I will have people that I will be accountable to…not just for encouragement but also for critiques.
So here goes my 2014 resolution for fashion geek….my goal which I must absolutely achieve this year is…drum rolls please….to WRITE 1,000 POSTS by December 31st 2014! Now it’s out there and I have no control over it. I absolutely must achieve this goal not just for my own piece of mind but also to give me something to thank God for and as a self-esteem booster. Once I achieve it, I will celebrate it and do something really great…like…hhhhm I need to think of the best way to reward myself for achieving this goal. I have 14 POSTS so far so in the meantime I need to keep moving so wish me luck guys!!!!!!!!!!!!

Now back to fashion, I’ m loving the Black and White Stripes fashion that has been a great hit for some time. Add a dash of this monochrome look and you are off to a great fashion start. Here are some of my favorite Black and White Stripes LOOKS.

Robert Pattinson Selling Home He Once Shared With Kristen Stewart

Here's your chance to finally be closer to Robert Pattinson: by buying his old house. The Los Feliz house he once shared with Kristen Stewart is now up for grabs for $6.75 million, according to RedFin.
The 1922 Spanish-style home Pattinson bought in 2011 from Kareem Abdul-Jabbar has not been lived in since his split with Stewart, reports Forbes. The building, built by Stiles O. Clements of El Capitan Theatre fame, according to CurbedLA, is 4,026 square-foot, nestled in 1.5 acres of a glorious landscape complete with a lagoon pool, greenery, and fountains. There are three bedrooms and over three bathrooms with this intricately terraced home. CurbedLA notes that the house has had a change of celebrity hands over the past years, with previous owners being Tim Curry, Noah Wyle, and cinematographer Robert Richardson.
There are also a couple of red-themed rooms in case that helps you reminisce about his vampire role in Twilight.

Louis Vuitton Condoms, Designed By Irakli Kiziria,

You've heard of top-notch bedding and lingerie brands, but is there room in bed for another designer?
One artist seems to think so.
Georgia Republic architect Irakli Kiziria has designed a Louis Vuitton condom, enveloped in the label's notorious brown packaging and adorned with what looks like raised lettering (for enhanced pleasure, we can only assume). The luxury rubbers are priced at $68 each, according to the "official" website. (Scroll below for photos.)
To put the price in perspective, $68 could buy you about six 12-packs of regular condoms.
But before you head to your nearest Louis Vuitton retailer, you should know the condoms aren't available in stores. (Bummer, right?)
In fact, Kiziria has no affiliation with the Louis Vuitton company and drafted the condoms in collaboration with Design Provocation as a design-project, according to the website. The team hoped to launch the product on World AIDS Day and donate the proceeds to amfAR, The Foundation For AIDS Research.

Gaunt model shocks at Milan Fashion Show

Hollow-eyed and gaunt, the skeletal model stalked down the runway at the Gianfranco Ferré fashion show in Milan last night wearing a dress cut in a deep V that revealed her protruding clavicle and flat chest. A flurry of flashbulbs popped as photographers vied to get the best shot and the line of fashion editors sitting front row scribbled furiously on their notepads. If ever there were a case of Emperor's New Clothes at fashion week, it was here.

Did any one of the assembled crowd really think this model - bony cleavage, dark circled eyes - looked good Could they genuinely say that this image was aspirational And ultimately, would the model do what must be her main purpose here: sell these clothes to other women The answer to all of the above should surely be a firm no. But the designers' decision to use such dramatically thin models - and to accentuate their emaciated looks with the use of revealing clothing and dark make-up - suggests the powers that be within the fashion industry think otherwise.
