Kenya’s Fashion Design House "KikoRomeo" Goes To Milan

After completing fashion design studies in Rome, followed by years working as a designer in Barcelona, Scottish born Ann McCreath took a three-month break doing aid work in Kenya. Finding it fascinating, she stayed on for 3 years, before deciding to go back to her profession and do trade instead of aid.

So in 1996 With a desire to help create jobs in rural areas and make unique, high quality products for retail Ann launched her own fashion house under the name “KikoRomeo”, which means “Adam’s apple” in Kiswahili.. Hoping Kenyans would take pride in African-inspired contemporary fashion, and promote their economy through buying locally made fashion, she set about making ethically sound products with inputs from community artisans and women’s groups, which she retailed through her own shop. Since then KikoRomeo has continued to offer ready-made garments, cut to international fashion trends, using African made fabrics, often with handcrafted details.

Interior decorating with Spanish Tiles

When it comes to home decoration and interiors, tiles play an important part in turning a house into a home. More people are becoming interested in decorating their homes so that it has a sense of warmth and is attractive. Interior decorating does not necessarily need one to have an education background in interior design. On just needs a creative mind and explore whatever designs makes them happy. A person needs to know the kinds of tiles available in the market. They also come in different colors and even textures.
Every house has a specific design that has been incorporated into it. As for tiles they come in different designs for different rooms.

There are tiles that are meant for the bathroom which can be as colorful as the house owner wants. There are tiles for the kitchen which are mostly in one color or design. For the kitchen you can also have two colors so that the room does not look so busy. Then there are tiles for other rooms like the living or dining room. Here you can choose to mix and match the patterns and even colors.

The 400th Post is all about History of Fashion Design

Dress designed by Charles Frederick Worth for Elisabeth of Austria painted byFranz Xaver Winterhalter

The history of fashion design refers to the development of the fashion industry which designs clothing and accessories. Fashion design is the art of the application of design and aesthetics or natural beauty to clothing and accessories. The modern fashion industry, based around firms or fashion houses run by individuals usually male designers, started in the 19th century with Charles Frederick Worth who was the first designer to have his label sewn into the garments that he created
•             Couture beginnings
The first fashion designer who was not merely a dressmaker was Charles Frederick Worth (1826–1895). Before the former draper set up his maison de couture (fashion house) in Paris, clothing design and creation was handled by largely anonymous tailors and seamstresses, and high fashion descended from styles worn at royal courts. Worth's success was such that he was able to dictate to his customers what they should wear.
•             Early twentieth century
Throughout the early 20th century, practically all high fashion originated in Paris and to a lesser extent London. Fashion magazines from other countries sent editors to the Paris fashion shows. Department stores sent buyers to the Paris shows, where they purchased garments to copy (and openly stole the style lines and trim details of others). Both made-to-measure salons and ready-to-wear departments featured the latest Paris trends, adapted to the stores' assumptions about the lifestyles and pocket books of their targeted customers.

Hello Kitty themed Baby Bedroom

A Hello Kitty bedroom design for your little girls is the perfect style for welcoming that little bundle of joy. The design adds a great character for the room since it is fun and very colorful that will keep your baby entertained. The colors of the room may  vary from pastels to more vibrant colors depending on your own taste, making it easy to create a nursery or bedroom that will be suitable for the little baby girl. For the Hello Kitty theme decor you can choose to have the whole room have the theme together with the bedroom furniture and covers or you can just have little splashes of the Hello Kitty theme. The room can then later be transformed into a pre-teen’s room by adding more mature furniture and a bigger bed depending on the girl’s age to match her personality.

Here are some suggestions for creating the best Hello Kitty Baby room.

Jean Paul Gaultier Haute Couture Fall 2013

"Jean Paul Gaultier took a turn to the wild side with his Fall 2013 Haute Couture collection. With models' hair twisted sky-high and painted with leopard spots, animal prints along with sculpted volume were the themes of the season. The overall effect had more than a nod and a wink to the '80s with Mugler-esque quilting on jackets, oversize shoulders that would look at home on Grace Jones, and patterned tights with every look.
Standouts include a cobalt leather dress with a wide belt and exaggerated hips and a frothy bridal trouser suit on Liu Wen."

"Jean Paul Gaultier Fall Couture – Feeling in a feline mood, French designer Jean Paul Gaultier sent out a collection of big cat inspired looks for his fall 2013 haute couture collection. Known for his sense of camp, Gaultier did not shy away from color nor print with his latest couture outing. Models strutted the catwalk in body-hugging silhouettes covered in spotted fur patterns and leopard print stockings.
Gaultier also found inspiration in the clowns of cinema, citing references such as “The Clowns” by Italian director Federico Fellini as well as David Bowie’s “Ashes to Ashes” music video. The circus influence can be seen in bright, circular patterns found on dresses, cone-shaped hats and over-exaggerated trouser proportions. Still, it’s not all fun and games; Gaultier’s attention to craftsmanship is evident by the impeccable embroidery and shapes presented." by Joanna...fashiongonerogue.com

The Vera Wang Spring 2013 Bridal Collection was a colorful affair with gowns coming in deep reds, maroon and even deep mahogany brown.
