A duster is a light, loose-fitting long coat. The original dusters were full-length, light-colored canvas or linen coats worn by horsemen to protect their clothing from trail dust. These dusters were typically slit up the back to hip level for ease of wear on horseback and were the recommended "uniform" for Texas Rangers. Dusters intended for riding may have features such as a buttonable rear slit and leg straps to hold the flaps in place. For better protection against rain, dusters were made from oilcloth and later from waxed cotton. In the late 19th and early 20th centuries, both men and women wore dusters to protect their clothes when riding in open motorcars on the dirt roads of the day. Today Duster coats define the ultimate female style as they have become a fashion staple in every stylish woman's wardrobe. They come in all kinds of designs, colors and even shapes. You can wear your duster coat with a slogan Tee paired with boyfriend jeans and black ankle length boots. Duster coats are even great when you wear with your fitting dress, denim shorts and even skirts. They can be used to keep warm for much colder months, and during the summer or hot days you can get a lighter duster coat made from light material like silk or chiffon. Celebrities have been spotted wearing duster coats looking all glammed up. Duster coats are best worn as outwear to compliment your outfit or even cover form cold winds.
