Screen Actors Guild Awards 2012 Fashion

Rose Byrne. in Elie Saab (Haute Couture Collection Autumn-Winter 2009-2010). Shoes ‘Vibe’, by Jimmy Choo; clutch by Lena Erziak and jewelry by Chanel Fine.

As with all awards in Hollywood and beyond, the celebrities dress well for the occasion. This year's Screen Actors Guild Awards, also know as SAG Awards saw celebrities dressed form head to toe in the best designer outfits, jewelry, purses/ clutch bags and shoes. Several designer names like Jimmy Choo, Valentino, Marchesa, among others got a chance to showcase some of their best designs through celebrities wearing them.
It was not only te women who were dressed finely for the occasion, but also the men were not to be overshadowed by the women as they came in their sharp ans sophisticated suits carrying designer labels, Brad Pitt had the perfect accessory on his arm in that of Angelina Jolie, looking glam as usual. The awards saw a mix of different colors in mostly the women's dresses, there were oranges, navy blues, some floral prints and even white.
Flowing gowns were not the only outfits that hogged the Red Carpet, there was a very unique outfit worn by Rose Byrne..
You do not have to break a bank to get a celebrity look, simply look at the style and create your own that matches that of your favorite celeb, or can even be better than. Looking and feeling good is a state of mind because you can have the most expensive clothes on and simply not look the part.
Celebrities make it look so simple and flawless yet knowing what works for your body size, skin color or tone and material can make a difference between looking fabulous and plain or worse...boring.
Below are some of my favorite outfits at this year's SAG Awards in no particular order.

Floral Shoes To Blossom Your Style

Spring is here and with it comes brightly colored flowers blooming giving you a sense of calm and excitement. To honor it, why not step out of the house with some floral print shoes that are classy and make a bold statement.
Floral shoes of all kinds—oxfords, wedges, and pumps—are a refreshing and easy way to inject a fun and care free attitude into your style.Whether sky-high heels for night, pumps for day, and flats for the weekend, floral shoes give you a spring in your step.
The trick to wearing floral shoes is to fit them with plain or a single colored outfit, don't wear too much floral print or the look will feel too busy and out of place.
You can wear floral shoes with a long maxi dress or a short flirty skirt with minimum accessories so as to draw all the attention to the shoes which come in a variety of colors.

Stella McCartney Reveals Uniforms For the British Olympic Team

Stella McCartney's recent runway collection wasn't the only Spring debut she had to worry about. The designer has spent the last two years working on the uniforms for the 2012 British Olympic team and finally unveiled them Thursday.
McCartney said that the uniforms started with a meditation on the Union Jack, the flag of Great Britain. "For me it's one of the most beautiful flags in the world and it was important for me to stay true to that iconic design, but also to modernise it and present it in a contemporary way," she said. "Ultimately, we wanted the athletes to feel like a team and be proud with the identity we created."

To that end, McCartney infused her athletic gear with the same attention to detail and craftsmanship that goes into her ready-to-wear. The entire kit, which is composed of nearly 600 different pieces created in collaboration with Adidas, will be distributed to the over 900 athletes who make it on the team.

After much anticipation, Adidas has just revealed its 2012 Olympic uniforms for Britain designed by Stella McCartney. The uniforms, which took two years to create, highlight a modern take on Great Britain's Union Jack flag. “The first place to start on a project like this is to look at the Union flag," said McCartney. "For me it’s one of the most beautiful flags in the world and it was important for me to stay true to that iconic design but also to modernise it and present it in a contemporary way." The designer injected her own fashion-forward spin on it via clean lines and and a less literal take on the flag. "Something that was very important to me was to try and use that very iconic image but to dismantle it and try to soften it, break it down and make it more fashionable in a sense," said McCartney.

Trend Alert – Suspender Tights

Trend Alert – Suspender Tights. From superstar Rihanna, and now even Selena Gomez, have both been spotted rocking the look of suspender tights. A sexy high fashion look that seems as if it’s not going anywhere anytime soon. I admit that this is one trend I definitely want to try, but I will have to wait until the right time to do so. You definitely can’t wear suspender tights everywhere. For those won’t don’t already know, this trend was very popular a few years ago in Europe, and it looks like it’s now making its way to the states. To pull off this trend layers is really key. Pair this look with a blazer, or sweater to add bulk to the top of your body. Finish the looks by wearing the tights and pairing it with a short black skirt, or tweed shorts. Solid colors will draw less attention. It’s really a fun trend to try, and the best places to wear it would include on a date with your boyfriend, ( don’t wear it on a first date because the guy might not get your style) , a night out with the girls, clubs, or simply trip to the movies. Just be sure not to wear this look to family dinners or church settings. Look below to see how both stars are rocking the trend, plus others ways you can wear it. Can’t wait to see what others celebs will join in on it.

Alek Wek From Sudanese Refugee to International Supermodel by Lynette R. Holloway

Indeed Alek Wek leads a glamorous life. She works as one of the top runway models in the world and her features are known worldwide-radiant skin and oval face, close-cropped natural hair and a dazzling smile. Her lean physique is grace personified on the catwalk. The model-recently-turned entrepreneur has created her own line of luxury handbags.
But life has not always been so good. Wek, a member of the Dinka tribe, grew up in southern Sudan in a town called Wau, where militias invaded and clashed with rebels in the 1980’s. Wek’s family, including her parents and siblings were forced to flee their home when she was just 9 years old.
During more strife, when she was a pre-teen, the family fled by plane to London, where she lived the life of a refugee, struggling to meet ends make ends meet, cleaning toilets, and sweeping floors and learning a foreign language. She also struggled with psoriasis, a sometimes devastating skin disease that causes the skin to flake, bump or peel. At times, her mother was forced to use a sharp knife to cut flaking bits from her head to toes.
Life, however, changed instantly when she was discovered by a modeling talent scout at a street fair. Wek tells her literal rags-to-riches story in a candid memoir FROM SUDANESE REFUGEE TO INTERNATIONAL SUPERMODEL: ALEK (Amistad, $24.95). Wek, 30, who lives in Brooklyn, takes time from her busy schedule to talk to Ebony about the book.

The Best Fashion Movies

I love fashion and watching fshion movies, programes or series that are about or feature fashion is one of my favourite things to do so here is a list of the best fashion movies, it not conclusive because there will be more fashion movies created or some that have been left out.
The list is courtesy of http://www.imdb.com/list/dUrwL25PdBI/ . If you have more you can add too. I haven't watched all of them but now that i have the list i can go and buy to watch.
One gest fashion inspirations from various sources and movies like these have lots of ideas and fashion items that you can either buy or get ones like them.
Fashion is all about your mind and what makes you inspired, there are no strict rules about how to like your fashion. Simply know what works for you, is appropriate for your body size, height, shape, skin tone and even
For instance you can wear sky high heels to elongate your legs and make your back leaner.
Wear minimal jewellery that blends with the outfit you are wearing so that it does not compete with it.
Fashion...It's all in your imagination's hands...!
